This is a half-day escape designed to recharge your batteries. Total duration is approximately 4 hours (including transfers).
The Pickup – Into the Wild
We pick you up from your accommodation in Reykjavík. Leave the city noise behind as we drive north into the serene Whale Fjord. The 45-minute drive sets the mood for relaxation before you even dip a toe in the water.
The Arrival – Steam Meets Sea
We drop you right at the Hvammsvik Nature Resort. The architecture here blends perfectly with the landscape – turf roofs and black rocks. If you chose the „With Entry” option, your ticket is ready. If you booked „Transfer Only,” please have your pre-booked ticket ready on your phone.
The Soak – 2 Hours of Elements
The driver waits. You explore. You have 2 full hours to discover the 8 natural pools of varying temperatures. Watch the tide come in, use the steam bath, or try ocean swimming in the cold Atlantic to boost your circulation.
The Return – Recharged

Is 2 hours enough time at Hvammsvik?
Yes, 2 hours is the perfect duration to try all 8 pools, brave the ocean dip, use the steam bath, and relax without rushing. (If you plan to have a long lunch at the bistro, consider checking our 3-hour option).
What makes it different from the Blue Lagoon?
Hvammsvik is smaller, quieter, and more „wild.” The water is clear geothermal water (not milky blue silica), and the pools are affected by the ocean tides. It feels more like a secret spot for locals.
Can I swim in the ocean?
es! Hvammsvik is famous for ocean swimming. You can jump directly from the hot pools into the cold Atlantic Ocean. It is invigorating! We highly recommend bringing swim shoes (or renting them there) as the beach is rocky.
Is it suitable for children?
Important: Hvammsvik has an age limit (10+ years old) to maintain a quiet atmosphere. Please check their official website for current rules before booking if you are traveling with young children.
What if the weather is bad?
Hvammsvik is arguably better in bad weather. Sitting in 39°C water while rain or snow falls on your face and the ocean waves crash nearby is the ultimate Icelandic experience.
IMPORTANT: What if I choose the "No Entry Fee" option?
You must book your own Hvammsvik ticket in advance on their official website. Please align your ticket time slot with your pickup time. Without a ticket, you cannot enter.

Travel plans can change – and that’s okay. Here’s how cancellations work for this tour:
If you booked directly with CarBuddy (our website, email, or via our team):
48+ hours before your tour starts
You can cancel in writing (for example by email to contact@carbuddy.is).
We refund the amount you paid to CarBuddy minus non-refundable payment and banking fees (card and currency conversion fees), currently around 3% of the total.Less than 48 hours before your tour
The full amount is charged (100% cancellation fee), as your vehicle and driver have been reserved just for you.
All cancellations must be sent in writing and confirmed by us in writing to be valid.
If CarBuddy has to cancel your tour because of weather, road conditions or safety/operational reasons, you can either:
move your booking to another suitable date/service (if available), or
receive a refund of the tour price paid to CarBuddy, minus the same non-refundable card/processing fees (currently around 3%).
If you booked through an Online Travel Agency or booking platform (for example Viator, GetYourGuide, TourDesk, or via a Bókun booking widget on our website), you can usually manage and cancel your booking directly through that platform using the link in your confirmation email. In that case, the platform’s own cancellation and refund rules apply, as shown in your booking confirmation.
