Why CarBuddy? Your Journey, Defined by Comfort and Story.
Luggage? Handled.
Don't worry about your bags. They stay safe and secure in our spacious vehicle while you explore the cliffs, soak in the lagoon, and walk the city streets. We are your mobile luggage storage.
The Ultimate Decompression
You don’t just get dates and facts – you get a local who knows the small stories, the shortcuts, and the best viewpoints when the big groups arrive. It feels more like travelling with a knowledgeable friend than sitting on a tour bus.
Flexible Routing
Want to hit the city first and relax in the lagoon last? Or dive straight into nature? You decide the order. Your driver adjusts the route to match your energy levels and the weather.
Experience
Soak in the milky-blue waters of the Blue Lagoon (tickets included), witness the steam rising from the Gunnuhver hot springs, and get a perfect introduction to Reykjavík city. We customize the pace to your flight schedule, with flexible drop-off in Reykjavík or back at KEF Airport.
Your Perfect Landing: Lava, Lagoon, and City Life
This itinerary is flexible. Depending on your flight time, weather, and lagoon booking slot, we can easily swap the order—starting with the city and ending with nature, or vice versa. Your driver handles the logistics.
Bridge Between Continents – Walk Across the Divide
Your first stop is geological history. You stand on a footbridge spanning a fissure where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates are pulling apart. It’s a rare chance to literally walk from Europe to America in seconds, surrounded by black sand and silence.
Reykjanes Cliffs – The Edge of the World
Stand at the foot of Iceland’s oldest lighthouse (Valahnúkamöl) and look out at the dramatic cliffs. Here, the Atlantic Ocean crashes against jagged lava rocks with incredible force. It is windy, wild, and breathtakingly beautiful – the perfect wake-up call after a flight.
Gunnuhver – The Earth Breathes
Before you see it, you hear it -a powerful roar of steam escaping from the earth. Gunnuhver is a highly active geothermal field where you walk safely through the mist, smell the sulfur, and watch boiling mud pools bubble violently. It’s an intense, sensory introduction to Iceland’s heat.
Brimketill – The Trolls' Pool
Witness the ocean’s power carving art into stone. Brimketill is a natural lava pool at the edge of the sea. Watch as the cold North Atlantic waves surge in and out of this natural cauldron, creating a mesmerizing display of white water against black rock.
Blue Lagoon – The Ultimate Decompression (Admission Included)
This is the highlight. Step into the warm, mineral-rich waters surrounded by moss-covered lava. For 2 hours, your travel fatigue simply melts away. Put on a silica mud mask, grab a drink from the swim-up bar, and float in comfort. By the time you leave, you are no longer a tired traveler, you are recharged.
Sun Voyager & Harpa – Dreams of Exploration
Visit the waterfront to see the Sólfar (Sun Voyager) sculpture, a gleaming steel dream of a Viking ship. Nearby stands the Harpa Concert Hall, a glass honeycomb that reflects the sky and sea – Reykjavík’s most photogenic modern landmark.
City Center – The Heart of Reykjavík
We drive up the charming Skólavörðustígur street to reach the iconic church that dominates the skyline. Its design mirrors the basalt lava flows you saw earlier. We stop for photos of this architectural masterpiece (Tower entry is optional/extra).
Hallgrímskirkja – The Guardian of the City
We take a scenic drive or a short stroll through the heart of the old town, passing the Austurvöllur square and the Parliament. It’s a perfect overview of the capital before we drop you off at your hotel or take you back to the airport.

FAQ (Arrival & Layover Specific)
How long is the tour?
The total duration is approximately 6 to 7 hours. This includes about 2 hours at the Blue Lagoon and sightseeing time. Because it is private, we can adjust the pace if you are tired or need to catch a flight.
My flight lands very early (e.g., 6:00 AM). Is this tour available?
Yes! This is the best solution for early arrivals, as hotels usually don’t allow check-in until 15:00. We can pick you up, explore the sights while the world wakes up, and get you to the Blue Lagoon right when it opens (or later), bridging the gap perfectly.
What should I wear?
The weather depends heavily on the season.
In Summer: You don’t need heavy hiking boots for this tour – comfortable sneakers or walking shoes are perfectly fine. Bring a waterproof jacket and a light sweater, as the coast is often windy.
In Winter: It gets cold and slippery. We strongly recommend a warm insulated jacket, hat, gloves, and sturdy shoes or boots with good grip.
Pro Tip: Keep your swimsuit easily accessible in your hand luggage so you can hop into the Blue Lagoon without digging through big suitcases!
I have a layover and need to go back to KEF Airport. Is that possible?
Yes. We can drop you off back at Keflavík Airport (KEF) in time for your connecting flight instead of a hotel. Please just let us know your flight details when booking so we can manage the timing perfectly.
Can we customize the tour and add extra stops?
Yes. Customization is the biggest benefit of a private tour. If you want to skip any point to spend more time at the cliffs, or add a stop for a famous Icelandic hot dog, just let your driver know. We tailor the experience to your interests.
Is this tour suitable for children or seniors?
Yes, absolutely. This tour is rated „Easy.” There is minimal hiking involved – mostly short, flat walks from the car to the viewpoints. The Blue Lagoon is very family-friendly (minimum age is 2 years). Since it is a private tour, we can adjust the pace to be as slow and relaxed as you need.
What happens with our luggage?
Your luggage stays safely stored in our spacious vehicle with your private driver at all times. You don’t need to worry about airport lockers or dragging heavy bags around.
Are we hiking to a volcano?
No. While you will drive through vast lava fields and see geothermal activity, this tour does not involve hiking up a volcano. It is an easy, relaxing sightseeing tour suitable for all fitness levels after a flight.
What kind of vehicle is used for the Arrival Day Private Tour?
We use comfortable, modern vehicles suitable for Icelandic conditions – typically a sedan or minivan for up to 8 guests. All vehicles are regularly serviced, have winter tyres when needed, and plenty of space for luggage and day bags. If you have special requests (extra luggage, child seats), please tell us when booking.
